I like to believe she does this because I recently purchased Sophie the Giraffe for her. Sophie is a French teething toy, made of 100% rubber from hevea trees.
While I like Sophie's green factor, her downfall is that she wears a squeaker on the inside. I'm pretty good about researching items before purchasing them, yet somehow this squeaker evaded my review. Lola seems indifferent to the squeak sound, but someone else in our house acted like God dropped a peanut butter dog biscuit right into his mouth.
You guessed it: Archie.
See, when Archie was a puppy, I banned all squeaky dog toys. The high-pitched sound was dreadful, especially at 3 AM which seemed like Archie's prime squeaky play time. Archie is now 6, so what's that in dog years? 42? You would think that like most 42 year-old people, his infancy memories would be long gone. But no, trust me, they are not. Archie loves the squeaky. All it took was one squeak from Lola, and Archie was right there. "Is that for me?" "Give me the giraffe." "GIVE me the giraffe." "I NEEEEEEEED the squeaky."
I tried to re-direct him. I gave him a rawhide chewy. I gave him a dog biscuit. I gave him a toy. Nope. No luck. He wanted the giraffe. I did not give him the giraffe.
Did I mention that one of the reviews on Amazon called Sophie "a glorified dog toy?" While I would like to believe that Lola's new toy is NOT a glorified dog toy, I'm at a loss as to how I am going to teach Archie the difference between baby toys and dog toys. For now, Sophie is in the diaper bag and is only making appearances once we are out of the house.
I think she's even prettier upside-down. (And Archie's even prettier when he's quiet.)
ReplyDeleteI can imagine us having a problem differentiating between dog toys and baby toys as well. Sophie and Polar love to play with pretty much any sort of toy, balls, stuffed animals, etc... I guess it is something that we will have to work on :).
ReplyDeleteHee hee...I say if Sophie comes in another color, buy one for Archie too. :)
