Books and Ballet

It seems we have spent the majority of January indoors. While I know that is a very common thing in most parts of the country, our California weather typically allows us to be free reign with our outdoor activities year-round. This year though has been exceptionally chilly and so we've been engaging in lots of indoor fun.

Like... getting Lola her very own library card.

And, beginning ballet lessons

Surprisingly, my child is not the one all dressed in black. Although, she is the one scowling, because well, that is just what she does when she is happy.

So THAT's where that was

Earlier this week, our landlord dropped off a small silver key. He explained that it opened the storage shed in our yard, and his handyman would need it on Thursday at three o'clock. Josh set the key on kitchen counter, next to the coffee pot, and forgot about it.

At 2:00 PM, Josh looked on the counter. The key was gone. He called me at work.

Josh: Hey, you remember that key that George gave us?
Delinda: Yeah.
Josh: Where is it?
Delinda: On the counter.
Josh: No it's not. Did you move it?
Delinda: No. Did YOU move it?
Josh: NO. I gotta go. I gotta find they key.

Well, after our conversation, Josh searched and searched for the key. He looked inside drawers, under the table, and even crawled on the floor, hoping that it was somehow wedged up against a floor board. A silent observer named Lola lurked in the background.

A few minutes before 3:00, Josh looked at Lola. As a last attempt, he questioned her.

Josh: Have you seen a small key?
Lola: I have a key!
Josh: Where is the key?
Lola: It's my key!
Josh: Where is the key, Lola?
Lola: I want the key!
Josh: Show me where the key is.
Lola: It's in a jar.
Josh: What kind of jar?
Lola: I use it for cooking.

Based on this vague clue, Josh walked over to Lola's play kitchen.

Josh: Is it in your kitchen?
Lola: It's MY key.

He began to look through her play food. He opened a cabinet, and inside an old oregano spice jar was the key.

Lola: There's the key!!

A Conversation about Anatomy

Lola: Do you have two penises?
Josh: No. I have one penis.
Lola: I have a penis.
Josh: No, you do not. You have a vagina.
Lola: I have two vaginas.
Josh: No, you have one vagina.
Lola: My vagina is bigger than your penis.
Josh: NO, it is not.
