Hellllo Lola

For weeks, Josh and I have been working with Lola on waving "hello" and "good-bye." As with most of the signs we have been teaching her, we felt our work was futile. She would give us her goofy baby smile and laugh as the two giant people in her life would stand over her, slowly waving and saying, "Hellllo Lola" or "Gooood-byyye Lola." I'm sure from her point of view, we looked pretty ridiculous.

But, you know what? Sometimes, being ridiculous is necessary for creating the stepping stones that will one day lead to MCAT/LSAT/GMAT test scores for admission to an ivy league graduate program.

Or, um, provide her with skills that are necessary for communicating with other human beings.

Right before this video was filmed, Lola responded to our "Hellllo Lola" chant. As her little hand started waving, she turned to look at it. It was as if she couldn't believe that her arm and palm and fingers were finally making the motion. Then, she looked at us with a huge grin, proud of her accomplishment. Of course, Josh, Rachel, Jesse, and I exploded into unanimous applause.

Here is our attempt to coax her into waving again.
