Indian Summer

Up until this very afternoon, it hasn't felt like autumn at all around here. The weather has been in the 80s and 90s for weeks. Lola has enjoyed having this extra time for her favorite outdoor activities:

Like running away, when I ask her to smile for the camera.

She wouldn't allow me to take a photo of her cute pigtails. All I got was this:

Because more important things awaited her, like the neighborhood chicken,

and the construction truck down the street. (After consulting Lola's truck book, I believe that this is a "mini-loader.")

We also had the opportunity a few weeks ago to watch Danielle's very first collegiate water polo game. She had a tournament in town, and we had a great time watching her team. I was amazed at how well Lola was able to sit still and watch the girls. She kept shouting, "Ball! Ball!" It was very cute.

It was also sweet how unembarrassed Dani was when I showed up to each game with baked goods for her and her teammates. I used to love when family members would come to games and bring us treats. She loved them, and her teammates seemed to as well. We were all happy.

  1. We love that shot of the three of you. I'd play a sport if it meant you and Lola would show up with treats.
