The Things She Says

She calls Oreos, "panda cookies."

----------

Lola enjoys going to our local garden nursery because they have a large koi pond. On a recent visit, she told me that the fish rhymed in the pond. When I prodded her about what she exactly meant, she shouted, "The fish at the nursery like to sing nursery rhymes!" Then she proceeded to look annoyed because I was unable to figure this out on my own.

----------

She spends time every morning doing "her workout." While she is doing crunches, she'll count and then say, "Ab-ripper-X! Let's climb those legs!" (A line from P90X.)

----------

She can identify photos of Jillian Michaels.

------------

If an object isn't operating in a way that she expects it to work (like a bottle or a container that she finds difficult to open), she will tell me, "This needs new batteries!"

-----------
Yesterday, as we were working on an alphabet puzzle, she said authoritatively, "OK. Here is the deal. This is an A."

------------

Oftentimes, she'll walk into a room, stop, cross her arms and shout, "What is going on here?" (Josh says that she gets this from me. I think he is imagining things.)

------------

Josh and Lola are together, running errands.

Lola: I want a baby sister.
Josh: What did you say?
Lola: I want a baby. I will hold it.
Josh: What about a baby brother?
Lola: No. Baby sister. I want a baby sister.
Josh: Did your mother put you up to this?
Lola: Auntie wants a baby sister.

  1. I think I need to do a post like this for Xander. I might even steal your title. They say some of the funniest things sometimes. I like the one about the batteries.

  2. These things crack me up. The thing about batteries, wanting a baby sister, and "Let's climb those legs!" - priceless!

  3. Which Auntie is in trouble?

I want Lola to come live with us.

    Except when she's tired.
