Lola-isms

I am sure I've already shared a few of these with you, especially if we've talked lately via phone or email, but for the sake of the blog, I need to write them down.

---------

It's dinner time, and we're eating a side of roasted broccoli and cauliflower.
Lola picks up a piece of broccoli, and says, "Tree!"
She picks up a piece of cauliflower, studies it, and says, "Tree with snow!"

----------

Discussing our upcoming camping trip.
Me: Lola, when we go camping, there will be sea lions, and sea gulls, and maybe whales!
Lola: Mama, if we see lions, will we see tigers, too?

----------

Lola: Mama, can you make a cake for Reese?
Me: Yes. Why?
Lola: Mama, can you make a cake for Elliott, too?
Me: Yes. Why?
Lola (increasing volume with each word): BECAUSE CHEE CHEW LIKES CAKE!
("Chee Chew" is her Aunt Rachel.)

----------

Lately, the discussion of pee and poop has increased as we've been working on potty training. Lola is always horrified when she has an accident, and has begun using "acci" as a prefix to things. For example, when she has a potty accident, she'll say, "Oh no! I had an acci-pee!" Or "Mama, it's an acci-poo!"

She's even changing the context of when she uses the prefix.

Lola: Where is my Jessie doll?
Me: I don't know. I think we may have accidentally lost her.
Lola: Mama, ACCI-find her!!

---------

She also likes to pair body parts with individuals. A few days ago, after spending some time in the bathroom, she tells me proudly, "Lola has a 'gi-na; Archie has a pee-nis; Daddy has a pee-nis." After a significant pause, she continues, "Gizmo has a 'gi-na; Mommy has a 'gi-na; Amy has a 'gi-na!" She was so dang proud of herself for this list, that I restrained myself from giggling, and told her, "Yep! You're right."

----------

Her new favorite thing to do at bedtime is sing, "Happy Birthday." (I think her obsession with this song stems from the fact that she threw a giant temper tantrum while we were singing Happy Birthday to her Granny, with her screaming "NOOOOOO!" while the rest of us tried to ignore her and finish the song.) She has a long list of people/things that she feels it is necessary to sing this song to. For example, last night, we sang Happy Birthday to (in this order): Woody (character in Toy Story), Archie, Reese, Lola, Rex (dino character in Toy Story), Jacob, her kitchen, her owie, and Woody.
