There must be something innate about children being unable to sleep in on Christmas morning, because while Lola doesn't really have the whole Santa thing down yet, she still managed to wake up at the crack of dawn.
By crack of dawn, I mean, WAY before dawn. Like hours before dawn. Like 4 AM. I am not kidding. I am sure part of this had to do with the fact that she went to bed at 6 PM, but still, getting up at 4 AM is tough. So, I brought her into our bed and endured an hour and a half of her pretending to sleep while alternating between poking me while identifying my body parts ("Eyes." Poke. "Nose." Poke. "Mouth." Poke) and her asking us whether we were asleep or awake. At some point, Josh and I dragged ourselves out of bed. I feel like the video really does a good job of summarizing our pain.
Lola loved her kitchen. I loved her reaction. "Hiiiiiii," she said. It was like, nice to meet you kitchen. She played with it all morning long. I was fully expecting something small to take her attention and subsequently cause her to forget all about the kitchen, but nothing did. In fact, she was so focused on the kitchen that Josh and I eventually opened the rest of her presents.
As for me, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. I received a fancy pea coat, lots of cookbooks and baking stuff, gardening tools, and even a gnome (yes, a garden gnome was on my Christmas list). Lola was in a great mood, Josh loved his gifts, and best of all, we got to spend the entire day together, drinking coffee while snuggled up on the couch with Lola in charge of "refills."
I think Lola's kitchen is nicer than mine! :)
ReplyDeleteLola has the Queen of Kitchens and the King of Teddy Bears... fantastic gifts!
ReplyDeleteLola's kitchen is MUCH nicer than mine. I'm in love with all the counter space.
