Our household is adjusting to Archie's absence. Last week during sharing time at preschool, Lola's teacher asked the students what they were thankful for. Lola raised her hand, and then stood up and said, "I'm thankful for my dog Archie...he died." As she sat down, another child stood up and shared about his dog, who also died. Then another child shared about her grandfather that passed away last year. A few more stood up and shared about their relatives or pets.
According to Lola's teacher, it was a very tender moment, a group therapy of sorts. She took the opportunity to talk about how love doesn't die, and how loss can trigger all sorts of emotions, and all of those feelings are OK.

Love this. Hang in there!
